The Mexican Peso is Mexico’s official currency. Its ISO code is MXN; prices are often written with $ or MX$. One peso is 100 centavos. Mexican pesos are not the same as other currencies that use the word peso — Colombian or Chilean pesos, for example, are different money.
Mexico uses the peso nationwide. Hotels or tour desks may also show a US dollar figure as a convenience quote; that is not a second official currency.
